Many patients are referred to me because the aesthetic demands placed on the GDP may be excessive.
This lady was referred because she was unhappy with the leaking composite restorations in her anterior upper teeth and the overall colour of her teeth.
Initial diagnostic procedures included mounted study casts, diagnostic waxing, fabrication of prototype restorations and preparation guides. The teeth were prepared using the preparation guide, the dentine sealed prior to using a dual cord impression technique with light and medium body polyvinylsiloxane material. Then the prototypes were relined with luxatemp and retrofitted. The impression was silver plated for added accuracy and four dentine bonded crowns were cemented into place copying the shapes of the prototypes and the guidance using putty indices and a custom made incisal guidance table.
