This lady was referred to us for the removal of her remaining upper and lower teeth following periodontal disease for a number of years. After providing initial full dentures, implants were placed in the upper and lower jaws. The upper was to be fitted with an overdenture and a “milled bar” and on the lower with a fixed bridge. The “milled bar” restoration gives extraordinary retention due to the “square” shape of the bar milled to a 2-6 degree taper.
